How to have a smooth and relaxing wedding morning

I have experienced a lot of different pre-wedding mornings, some are relaxing and carefree while others are stressful and unorganised!

These are my 5 biggest and best tips you and your bridal party can use on the morning of your wedding to ensure everyone is relaxed and enjoying this special time together.

The last thing you want is to be rushing out the door before your ceremony!

1. Create a timeline

There are likely going to be lots of people needing your attention on the morning of your wedding.

First, there’s me - your makeup artist and/or hair stylist.

Next, your florist drops by to deliver flowers, family members pop in for a visit and then your photographer and maybe even a videographer turn up too.

It can get really chaotic!

Make it easy on everyone - particularly you - by creating a timeline for the morning.

Your bride tribe should know when to arrive and what time they’re all getting ready, and any visitors or other wedding vendors should be scheduled so they don’t all turn up at the same time.

Make sure you plan enough time so that makeup and hair are finishing by the time your photographer and/or videographer arrives.

If you are one of my brides, I can help you create a timeline for your wedding day, chat with me now and let’s work it out!

2. Assign tasks to your bridal party

Allocate your bridesmaid’s different tasks for the morning so you have less on your plate leading up to the ceremony.

Don’t try and do everything yourself!

3. Remember to eat

Make sure you have someone organise breakfast or a grazing board and coffee or something to drink - umm, bubbles?!

Depending on your ceremony time, you may even want to even squeeze in a light lunch.

You may not feel like eating a huge amount, but it’s a long day so having small nibbles to get you through is a great idea.

4. Don’t forget the vibes!

Playing music while you’re getting ready is a great way to help people relax and create a great atmosphere for everyone.

Someone should not only be in charge of a great playlist of songs, but something to play music on - ie a portable speaker of some kind.

If you’re getting ready at a hotel or Airbnb, they might not have a way to play music but also might have restrictions on music and noise, so just be mindful of these things.

5. Allow plenty of time

Everyone is ready to go on time and you’ve got a few minutes to sit down, take it all in and have a moment to yourself.

Or, everything is running late, no time for pre-ceremony photos with your bridesmaids, everyone is stressed and now the ceremony will start an hour late.

I know which scenario I’d prefer!

Allow a minimum of 1 hour per person (if not longer!) before the ceremony to get ready.

Chat to your photographer (and videographer if you have one) as they may want time for photos before leaving for the ceremony.

Take into account time for travel to the ceremony, getting into your dress, getting flowers organised and even cleaning up your house or hotel, particularly if you aren’t coming back.

Don’t leave things like accessories, shoes and bags etc until the last minute, set aside some time in the morning or day before to get these ready.

Finally, I suggest to have your bridal party finish getting ready 15 minutes before you do so that they can help you get ready and get any last-minute things you need without worrying about their own outfits.

I hope this helps you plan your wedding morning, go ahead and add these little details into your timeline!

All the best!
